Weekend Wrap Up 4/6

by brenda on April 6, 2013

I’m starting a new tradition here at The Well Fed Homestead, where I share with all of you what my favorite resources were from the week. I’m going to be posting this on Saturdays (not Mondays, like this one!). :) First, I will always share a few of my favorite posts from my Well Fed Wednesday blog carnival. If you’d like to participate in Well Fed Wednesdays, you can come enter your links starting 6 pm Pacific Time on Tuesday night! I will also share some of my other favorite resources from the web.

3 Posts from This Week’s Well Fed Wednesday post:

    1. Kombucha: Myths vs. Truths I really enjoyed this post because I just started making kombucha! Does the scoby “eat” all of the sugar and make kombucha a sugar-free drink? Is kombucha caffeine free? Check out this post to find out!
    2. What Can I Improve in 15 Minutes? I love The Granny Plan posts about how to improve your diet in easy baby steps! If you’re a beginner with real food, this post will be helpful to you!
    3. Cheesy Corn & Quinoa Stuffed Pumpkins This recipe makes me want to look up Golden Nugget Pumpkin seeds and order them now! What a lovely presentation!

Around the web, I have enjoyed:

    1. Gluten Free Coconut Buckwheat Pancakes because if you’re transitioning off of GAPS, buckwheat is one of the first grains that you can introduce. These look yummy!
    2. Chicken Soup with Lead? Looking into a Controversy This is very interesting. I hadn’t heard about broth potentially containing lead (other than from a crockpot with lead).
    3. Easy Version of Homemade Raw Milk Yogurt This is similar to my version of homemade yogurt, which I want to share with you soon! It’s actually very easy to make yogurt at home!
    4. The Ultimate Guide to Natural Sweeteners Do you know what sweeteners are best, and the impacts they have on your body? This is a great post!
    5. Choose and Use Good Fats While you’re figuring out the best sweeteners, check out the best fats as well!
    6. 5 Tips for Balancing Hormones Naturally with Food  This is a great post about how to balance your hormones without pills.
    7. Easy Homemade Laundry Detergent I’ve made laundry detergent in the past, but not recently. I love that this version is borax-free!
    8. Soaked Gluten Free Graham Crackers Yum! Pin this one for summer s’mores! :)
    9. Apple Cider Vinegar for Insulin Sensitivity Apple Cider Vinegar is good for so many things! Make sure to keep some raw ACV on hand, just in case!
    10. Homesteading & the Big Machine Lots of suggestions of changes that we can all make to avoid the industrial food system.

Thanks for the highlight Brenda, it’s a pleasure to take part in Well Fed Wednesdays! Love the round-up post, that kombucha post was fabulous @disqus_sMzChqzMww:disqus. I’ve been making kombucha for a while and I forwarded this to a few people who have been asking my scoby-related questions. It’s got all the answers in one convenient place so I don’t have to keep repeating myself :D
