What are the benefits of using coconut flour?
- A little bit of coconut flour goes a long way! You will use 1/2 cup or so in a recipe that will make 12 muffins, so a pound of coconut flour will last you a while.
- It is high in protein.
- It does not contain any grains or nuts.
- It has a naturally “sweet” flavor to it and works nicely in muffins or desserts.
But where do you find coconut flour? And is it expensive?
I recommend getting the best raw coconut flour available. You can buy anywhere from 1 lb to 25 lbs at a time, and sometimes you can find it in the bulk bins. You can purchase coconut flour at:
- health food stores
- organic & natural grocery stores
- online
Coconut flour will range in cost, anywhere from $5 to about $9 per lb, including shipping. I recommend getting Organic Coconut Flour, and getting it from a good source. You get what you pay for when it comes to food. I personally vote for this coconut flour because I think it’s the best product.
