Gardening: The First Step
(my pea seedling nearly two years ago…my first year of my own garden!)
You are going to love this…the first step in starting a garden is dreaming about it!
Easypeasy, right!?!
Start thinking about where you would like to have a garden (if you have never had one)…even if it’s just in pots on a balcony or herbs near your kitchen sink window-let’s grow something together this year!
Remind yourself that you can’t fail…although you might learn a few things the hard way! =)
And look forward to the joy of receiving seed catalogs! They are GORGEOUS! Be sure to include your kids in choosing some seeds-the whole process is a wonderful learning opportunity!
Here are a few of my favorite companies:
Seed Savers Exchange
Bountiful Gardens
Territorial Seed Company
Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds
Click over to sign up and have them send you a catalog!
See, I told ya that was easy…now to choose which glorious seeds to buy-that’s a bit harder! I’ll have more tips for you soon!
To help you dream about your garden and plan it out, Brenda created the Garden & Preservation Planner. It’s full of details to help you decide what seeds to purchase, how much you’ll need to grow, etc.! Check it out!
What seed company do you like???

but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.”

Love Baker Creek!

I ordered all my seeds this year from Seed Savers. We get the Territorial catalog in the mail, but I didn’t even look through it this year. I’ll have to look at those other companies, too. Thanks for the recommendations!
