Like Deanna, I’m tickled to find out that my “foamie” is GAPS legal and that you featured it in your 4th of July listing–thanks! Happy to find your blog, too. π I’d like to learn more about GAPS. Between yours and another GAPS blog I’ve subscribed to, I’m sure I’ll come up to speed quickly. π

Hi Brenda,
I am a new follower of your blog and I love some of these recipes you posted! I occasionally post recipes too, as I am also very interested in nutrition and cook and bake everything for my family. We eat all-organic, no meat or dairy except fat-free yoghurt, but tons of fresh fruit, veggies, nuts and some fish. I have a PhD in nutrition and looked into the GAPS diet at one point, but decided against it because, while it does make one feel GREAT, the long-term cardiovascular effects are notable. But you can’t go wrong eating loads of fresh, organic produce, and I agree that going against processed foods is the only way to go. I wish it weren’t so hard some days though π
Glad I found your blog!

Hi Alina,
Thanks for commenting! I’m glad you like some of the recipes I have posted. I appreciate that you avoid processed foods & enjoy organic fruit, veggies, fish and nuts! I personally don’t believe that the GAPS diet will lead to any negative long-term cardiovascular effects, because we’re eating like hunter-gatherers, who lived long, healthy lives. The pioneers who ate mostly grains (like corn) had short lives with lots of ill-effects. (The Lipid Hypothesis tells us that fat makes us fat & causes heart disease, but it’s never been proven, at least by anyone other than the companies who sell the low-fat grain filled stuff). I’m anti-grains, anti-soy, and believe that protein is the building block of human life, the brain needs fat to function properly, and that eggs, fish, grass fed beef, and butter from grass fed cows are the healthiest foods on the planet. SO, a vegetarian diet wouldn’t work for me! π I respect that you are doing what you think is best for your family though! Blessings in your journey! π
